Raptors
Birds of Prey
what is a bird of prey?
To understand a little of what you see with birds of prey, it's good to know what
makes a bird a bird of prey. You might notice that birds of prey are also called raptors,
The word raptor was thought of by the victorians; it comes from the latin word 'raptare'
meaning to sieze and carry off, which reflects one of the defining characteristics of
birds of prey.
There are many birds in the world that eat meat, more in fact than all the species of raptors
put together. A large number of small birds eat insects, there are birds that catch and eat fish,
but they all do it differently from raptors.
The three defining attributes of a raptor are:
- Raptors are carnivorous
- Raptors catch their food with their feet
- Birds of prey have very wide binocular vision.

Do you hate vultures?
Well, you shouldn't!
FIRSTLY,a vulture's carrion diet helps humans in several ways. Vultures can eat a dead animal with a disease and it doesn't affect the vultures. so the disease goes away. SECONDLY, they get rid of the carcasses that otherwise would rot and smell
so vultures are good. The worst thing is at the world cup people thought vultures could predict the future so
people poisoned them to eat their brains to predict the lottery and football world cup scores so they were crazy.
